3/8's tandem requirements
- A conforming roll cage is required to participate in tandem runs.
-
Forward braces and portions of the main hoop subject to contact by the occupant’s helmet (as seated normally and restrained by seatbelt/shoulder harness) should be padded. At minimum the horizontal bar running parallel across the top of the window from the main hoop to the A pillar must be padded to pass tech. Depending on seating position this could include the occupant facing side of the main hoop located above above the horizontal plane of the harness bar and tubing within three feet (3') of the occupant's helmet. Padding must be made of material intended for motorsorts use with a minimum thickness of one-half (1/2). Padding conforming to SFI spec 45.1 is recommended.
-
Evergreen Drift reserves the right to not approve a roll cage based on safety concerns. Cages should be built to Formula Drift specs first but SCCA, NASA, FIA, and other wheel to wheel road racing approved cages are acceptable. It is the drivers responsibility to provide the rules proving conformity to any standard other than Formula Drift.
-
A minimum 4 point roll bar with a single door bars that extend from the main hoop and terminates at the base of the A pillar on both the driver and passenger side is required. Four point cages with a single door bar must retain the factory doors with unmodified side impact protection for both the driver and passenger side. 6 point cages with door bars meeting Formula Drift ProAm rules specification may modify the factory side impact door beams and use aftermarket doors.
-
4 Point cages are recommended for vehicles that are still street driven. Formula Drift spec 6 point cages offer additional protection for track only cars that will always be used with a helmet.
