Despite being hit with snow making travel difficult over fifty people came out to party. Drivers and fans from as far as BC and Oregon braved the elements for a chance to race against fellow Grassroots, ProAm, and Formula Drift Pro drivers.
Before any awards were handed out fans, staff, and drivers enjoyed the fun atmosphere of catered food and drink in Traxx’s private banquet room.
Over thirty people took to the indoor karting track to qualify for the main event race. The competition was intense with 15 drivers breaking into a 20 second lap which is just hundredths of a second away from the track record proving that drifters can turn a good lap time when they decide not to slide around!
Nick Schnell turned the fastest qualifying time beating out the likes of Kyle Pollard, an ex-shifter kart racer and Sean Winkler, who practically lives at Traxx and is always fast. Thirteen drivers made the cut to the final race. A standing start green flag start with inverse grid was used placing the fastest qualifiers at the back giving them an extra challenge.
Start of the Main Event Race -
Walker Wilkerson took advantage of his lower qualifying time and led the race from the front row to receive the win while Sean Winkler battled his way up from the back row for second with Gelb Antonov taking third. Check out Sean’s helmet cam of the final race to watch him deftly move through traffic for a podium finish.
The Karting podium guys even got sweet trophies provided by Traxx.

The Northwest has some of the best drift media in the world and we gave them some recognition with photos of the year and video of the year awards.

Video of the Year
The criteria for Video of the Year were that it should capture the spirit and essence of drifting at Evergreen both on and off the track with high production quality with innovation in technique raising the bar for drift videos.
Justin Shreeve is on fire right now and he started off the year with his Nothin’ to Worry About video that has reached 30,000 views and fit the award criteria perfectly. Warning, the song will be stuck in your head all day!
There is a ton of awesome people who work hard to make sure the events run smoothly. During 2010 there were a few people who went above and beyond the normal call of duty and contributed to the program. Next time you see them or any volunteer be sure to thank them for all their hard work!

Northwest Regional Cup
We also handed out the first ever perpetual award, the Northwest Regional Cup. All points earned by the Evergreen Drift ProAm drivers were added together based on which state or province they are from to highlight the friendly rivalry between Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia drivers at Evergreen. For 2010, Washington took it with a higher number of drivers competing than Oregon and BC. ProAm Wildcard awardee and Nationals 2nd place finisher Walker Wilkerson was chosen to hold the cup for Washington until 2011. It looks like there will be more Oregon and BC drivers stepping up for ProAm this year so Washington will have their work cut out for them!
Also on had were local Formula Drift pros fresh off their 2010 rookie season. We gave them a shout out for their accomplishments and giving us a good show in FD all year.

We also did a raffle with super high tech raffle tickets (napkins) to give away 3 pit passes and a free open drift for the season. Look for a lot more coupons and giveaways in 2011.
In addition to closing out business for 2010, we also took time to also a glimpse into the upcoming 2011 year at Evergreen. Highlights include:
The schedule is complete, and we’ve introduced a couple of new events including the addition of a Spring Fair event, a two day overnight campout event, and also a Halloween Party event.
Grassroots will have 4 rounds this year and ProAm 5 rounds.
Competition dates have been moved to Sunday to make for easier travel and ProAm and Grassroots will be held on the same day giving fans events packed with nonstop drift competition action.
Ensuring the fans have as much fun as the drivers is a big focus. Upgraded facilities, improved concessions, expanded car show and forum meets, and other cool activities for fans during 2011 are in the works.
Evergreen’s new track owners were even on hand to and show support for the drifting program. Evergreen Drift has been working closely with Doug Hobbs and his team to put unprecedented resources behind the drifting program to make it better for drivers and fans alike.
